*Quick* Powder Bath Reno

Well. Another project that just didn't go as originally planned. Go figure! I always have such high hopes of a plan and even had subcontractors booked to the T of a schedule. But instead of this project taking 5 days to complete, it took about 2 weeks. But it's done!

We have renovated just about every square inch of our main floor...except for this bathroom. It obviously is not a big space and was functioning just fine so I wasn't super motivated to renovate it. But then I realized I had this remnant piece of granite in my garage and said "oh I'll reuse this and basically the project will be free." I'm a designer and even I have delusional thoughts every now and then 😂

While I wanted to new space to be nice, I definitely didn't want to spend a ton of money - especially since I have 3 wild minions running around my house. So I thought I'd share some of my thrifty finds here! And let me tell you - there are some steals in here!

Step 1: buy a prefab inexpensive cabinet and paint it. I'm talking $175 people!

Step 2: install some wallpaper for a little wow factor

Step 3: find faucets and fixtures and a rug from Amazon and call. it. a. day.

So why did the project take longer? Well. If you've ever done a home project you know that scheduling is probably the toughest thing to coordinate. Once everything is demo'd you realize just how many little things it takes to put it back together. Patching drywall, re-caulking doorways, electrical rough ins - the tiny details just seem daunting. AND you are working around contractor's schedules which means....well...gotta be patient. Drywall can't be patched until electrician moves existing light. Ended up needing to re-template countertop because our walls are out of plum. Gah! But if you can be patient, it really does all pay off!

Sometimes I don't think you realize how bad a room is until you re-do it and then ask yourself "why in the actual world did I not do this sooner?!"

BEFORE:

MOOD BOARD:

The most drastic change was for sure the wallpaper. I liked it before I put it up and then once it was up I had a mini heart attack. IT WAS SO BRIGHT. And I thought it looked like an insane asylum. Crap. My hope was that once I got the rich looking green vanity done and all the other pieces in, it would look better. I also added a vintage rug last minute to give it more of a sophisticated feel and not so farmhouse like (best $55 find ever). I think it worked! Also would 100% not recommend painting a vanity dark green AFTER they install white wallpaper. OUIE! 🙈

PROGRESS PICS:

If you know me, you know I love mixing patterns in a sophisticated but risky way. I was a bit nervous about how this plaid was going to work with my existing antelope runner but I think it balances each other so well and makes for such a pretty view!

Cheers!
